I have a NAS unit and am trying to use it to backup SQL Server DB at night. I'm using a UNC path as part of the maintenance plan. The problem is it seems I can not complete a backup. The backups always fail with this error message:
BackupDiskFile::RequestDurableMedia: faulre on backup device "\\powervault\backup_1\sqldata\". Operating system error 64 (The specified network name is no longer available.). The error only occurs when the database is backed up, the transaction logs are backed up to the same UNC path with no problem. Is it not advisable or even possible to do backups like this?
