We use our Client Variables.

You can use Registry or Database also..

We use a database for our Client Variable
repository. This gives all machines on a
cluster access to the repository :)

Client vars are stored as cookies unless otherwise changed by the
cfapplication or administrator and I think there are checks to not allow
this if stored in the registry:-)
