Last year's CFUnited was my first. I'd suggest you take notes at the presos, and try not to get overwhelmed. There is a TON of information available, and it can feel like drinking from a fire hose. If you go to the conference and pick up at least two or three major things that improve how you work, I'd consider it a success. For example, you may not be using CFCs. If you get some good advice on using them, and then when you get back you put it into practice, you had a successful conference. Oh, and there's that networking thing. One thing I'm going to do differently this year is not be too worried about attending a session every hour.
