+1 on using standard tracking and analysis techniques - since that's exactly 
what you need here. If using an outsourced / ASP solution is a touchy political 
issue (for whatever reason: cost, short sightedness, privacy concerns) then you 
can easily implement your own (which will most usually be based around a table 
with one row per "hit", to answer the original question). In any case, i 
suggest taking a look at the O'Reilly book "Web Site Measurement Hacks", which 
contains a bunch of great information on this topic.
