With bigger companies you also have to worry about the content of the messages. 
 Yes, online gambling will probably not offend an employee, but requests from 
forms of a more questionable content can be construed as "harassment" if the 
employer does absolutely nothing to stop it.  Of course that is more of a 
business concern and less a technical matter, but still one of the concerns 
behind the implementation of Captchas.  It also reduces the "annoyances" that 
public facing, non-login form can produce.  Untill be have an international 
"identity" system - Captchas and email confirmation (like click here to 
activate your account) will increase in use -- a necessary evil at the moment.
