If you have a intel core 2 duo processor and enough ram, you can always run linux in a virtual machine... with Core 2 Duo's Intel Virtualization Extensions, the VM instance doesn't take up any extra CPU that it needs to, and linux can be made to run well on as little as 256mb of ram.
