For those of you that are interested in jQuery, I might suggest that you take a look at DomQuery by Jack Slocum.
http://www.jackslocum.com/blog/2007/01/11/domquery-css-selector-basic-xpath-implementation-with-benchmarks/ I like DomQuery better than jQuery and its 2 to 3 times faster than jQuery in every task. I wouldn't suggest that anyone rip out existing jQuery implementations, but if you aren't heavily invested, I'd give it a look. Jack's yui-ext library is really kicking some ass.
