True dat. ;^) Also I won't personally host with a company that takes that much control out of your hands. YOU should determine how any software will affect your application and YOU should determine the best time to install it. A host should (I think) inform you of important updates and I would say it's reasonable to require those certain rare patches that might affect their network. But control should still be in your hands. Also I just have to say that Linux/Unix isn't a panacea for this. Better in some ways, no doubt, worse in others - in my experience the end result is a wash. (I spent many years working with Enterprise Windows Systems and the past several years working with Enterprise AIX systems.) In my experience downtime is about equal with both... and those "WTF" moments (or hours...) are universal. Although to be fair nearly every case that comes to mind the root cause was human error and of those left over pretty much all were vendor software issues. In short if you want to run a fully stable OS keep all people away from it and don't ever install anything. ;^) Jim Davis ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Get involved in the latest ColdFusion discussions, product development sharing, and articles on the Adobe Labs wiki. http://labs/adobe.com/wiki/index.php/ColdFusion_8 Archive: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/CF-Talk/message.cfm/messageid:293758 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/CF-Talk/subscribe.cfm Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/unsubscribe.cfm?user=11502.10531.4
