I've gotten this error before. I don't know if this is the same thing or not, but in my case, I got the null pointers error only on the application start, a refresh would make it work. anyway, it took me a few weeks, but the solution (at least in my case) was either checking or unchecking (i can never remember which... so just the opposite of whatever it is now) the "maintain connections" box in the coldfusion admin under database connections. I had to call my hosting company to get it done, but they complied and I have never had the problem since. HTH!
