I switched to HosTek cause of their CF9 hosting. And quite honestly... their support seems to be seriously lacking in over all knowledge. I have had issues since the get go. Their 'pre-packaged' packages never installed correctly, always had issues during install (well all of them did but maybe 1 and it wasn't a CF package). And those that I uploaded myself had the same problems.
After they "started looking into the problem" it took them over 4 days to fix it. If you call it a fix. I researched the problem myself at the start, found the issue, tested it on my local box which confirmed the solution i found worked. I let them know that iwas a server setting on their end and even provided them with links as references to the issue and how to fix it. within 4 days I was contacted by 4 different tech people each time they needed to "know what the problem was" and then informed me "we will fix it shortly" and even though i gave them the answer and it was something they needed to do, the never once applied the fix. Instead they had to delete and "do a custom install" 3 different times cause nothing ever worked. Finally after telling them that i was about to cancel my service with them, they applied the fix and acted as if they found the problem after 4 days of working on the issue. The fix was about 5 mins to apply on my local box. Basically they told me that my rights were not setup correctly and that each time they will have to apply the fix manually. It shows they need to either retrain their techs or hire new ones with more understanding then just opening a book and reading. I'm researching the places that people have posted on this thread to find a new provider. It's sad since i was given great reviews about hostek but yet they've proven to be worse then godaddy on getting things fixed. ________________________________ From: wabba <must...@wabba.net> To: cf-talk <cf-talk@houseoffusion.com> Sent: Fri, May 21, 2010 12:36:45 AM Subject: RE: CF 9 Hosting Also been using hostek for years and always been very happy, never had the downtime experienced by others. Their support has always been very quick, and 90% of the time it's my problem anyway :P ... On a reseller package with some other options, spending a bunch more than $5/month, but still very cost effective. -----Original Message----- From: Paul Alkema [mailto:paulalkemadesi...@gmail.com] Sent: Thursday, May 20, 2010 8:21 AM To: cf-talk Subject: RE: CF 9 Hosting I've been using hostek for awhile and really like it. http://hostek.com/ One of the best features I think is that you can run cf9 applications, asp.net applications and php applications all from 1 hosting package which is awesome since I develop in all of those languages. Also they're CF package is only $5/month which is awesome. One down side I think is the hosting control panel isn't all that great, but it works well and does that I want.
