Steven, I guess I should have added that once the updates are installed, remove the service account from Administrators. And this solution is only a workaround, mind you. I don't believe this **should** be necessary, but it has been for me.
I've followed the lockdown guides, including granting the ColdFusion service account "full" permissions to the entire /ColdFusion10 folder structure. Updates since update 2 have not installed without installing with "Administrator" group rights. -Carl V.
