My guess, and I speak here as just Ray, not Adobe Ray, heck, I'm not on that team anyway, is that they have a certified list of web servers they support, and adding one involves significant effort, and is probably only done in major releases, ie, CF11 may support Apache 5 or somesuch. The CF requirements page should clearly spell out what versions of Apache it supports and I'd always recommend following that if - well - you want stuff to work.
