I don't know about pre dating it, I have been using Studio since 1995, when Allaire purchased it. They then decided to release Homesite and then Homesite+
The only difference between the two, was that Studio had far more features. When Studio was discontinued, they then decided to release homesite+ I still have the Homesite Studio Disc with the copyright of 1994 on it.
