I suspect that the opposite will happen.

When AOL bought Netscape, there wasn't much left to Netscape. It was a shell
of a company. Now, the Netscape server products are Sun's - and better
integrated with the Solaris platform. The browser is ... well, no worse off
than when Netscape was its own company.

The nice thing about the Allaire-Macromedia merger is that both companies
have complementary products, with little overlap. They work very well
together, and each side provides functionality that the other needs. We
typically use both Allaire and Macromedia products in each of our major
projects, with great success.
