Is is possible to create a Verity Collection for that data and search it
instead of doing a SQL search?
Then you would be able to introduce the Boolean terms in your serach
criteria without having to interpret them and alter the SQL statement
accordingly.
I know that doesn't answer your Q, but just a thought...
