See this is the problem. You can't just 'switch' to a new technology. You
need the experience in that technology. Anybody can drive a F1 Racing Car,
but only a few can actually race in one...

CF is alive and kicking in the UK. If you are having problems getting
work, you may be lacking in experience/broader skill sets. If it is an
experience problem, consider taking a permanent position where the
requirements are not as high, and grow your experience while doing that
job, then go contracting.

Most contracts expect you to have at least 1-2 years experience in CF, AS
WELL AS 3-4 years experience in development. Contractors are usually
classed as Senior Software engineers. Which means 3-5 years experience in
the industry.

Hi Ben,

I agree with you that CF market in UK is quiet now-a-days. I tried to find
some jobs on many websites but they also don't hv much jobs.

What are you comments if I want to switch myself from ColdFusion to
VB/ASP? You know MS is coming up with .net and it has started making sound
even in the Bita. Moreover, MS products are always in Demands.

Any comments/suggestions?

Regards,
Rajesh

The CF contract market in the UK is extremely quiet at the moment, it's
very
disconcerting... On the other hand you can pretty much have your pick of
permanent jobs...

A good idea is to try and get involved in the CF community. Join the uk
cfug
@ : www.cfug.co.uk and their mailing lists. Also join the CF-Community list
or CF-Jobs lists at www.houseoffusion.com where this post should really of
gone..
