I can load SWF content from other sites just fine. What's happening on Macromedia.com is as follows:
1. Type in address 2. 10-15 second delay 3. Page appears 4. Click a button 5. 30-40 second delay while menu loads It seems to be MUCH faster now, though... -----Original Message----- From: John Dowdell [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Monday, January 14, 2002 1:45 PM To: CF-Talk Subject: RE: Re: New Allaire/Macromedia Site At 1:07 PM 1/14/2, Ian Lurie wrote: >Browser: IE 5.5 >Platform: PC, Win 2000 >Connection Speed: 512k DSL >Load times: Home page - 1-2 minutes; dev area - 2-3 minutes when it work s Wow, if it takes 1-2 minutes to load the front page, then something is definitely unusual. I'm not sure what it is. Some ways to check off possibilities would include the one-or-all-sites test (can that browser see other SWF content with or without those symptoms?), the one-or-all-times test (if it only occurred during the transfer then that could be distinct than if it always fails like that there), the one-or-all-browser test (could help distinguish browser configuration differences from network configuration differences), the one-or-all-networks test (if you have access to another connection then this could help exculpate the DSL line)... these would be some quick ways to find that difference. I know that IE5.5/Win2K is in the site's testing matrix, and I know that a 1-2 minute load time would definitely have raised red flags before releas e. I'd like to learn what the difference is here, thanks! jd John Dowdell, Macromedia Tech Support, San Francisco CA US Search technotes: http://www.macromedia.com/support/search/ Offlist email risks capture by the spam filters.
