I agree. If you want to make an online museum that really takes advantage of
the medium, build a good, fast-loading site where people can browse easily.

Then give them the ability to specify areas of interest (categories in the
CMS) and just have those displayed when they arrive.

Then, to really top it off, allow people to 'subscribe' to different
categories, and receive email when new stuff is added to those categories.
And let people forward stuff to friends.

If you're really feeling ambitious, let visitors comment on each exhibit,
thereby adding to the value of the museum on their own.

Don't succumb to bells and whistles - keep it informative and interactive,
and I'll show up for sure...
