My guess is that it's because OS X isn't a server platform. Just because it can run server software doesn't make it a serious server platform. However, that being said, you might be able to get the Linux version running on there in BSD's "Linux compatibility" mode. Also, I suspect that Neo will run on OS X in that it'll probably be released for BSD.
