My thoughts are that if you can > provide a reference to the original thread then it would make sense to have > a subject change become a new thread. But sometimes it's useful to know how > a conversation got to where it is. (grasping here, but maybe something like > "Derived from: Another Thread - Click here to see it." somewhere in the new > thread.) > This sounds like a good plan.
About 90% of threads that appear under other threads don't actually have any relevance to where it is posted. Generally its just someone "replying" to create a new thread of their own chosing by changing the subject. Of course this kind of like shooting themselves in the foot, cos if the recipients email client threads correctly, their message will appear buried under the thread they used to reply to. Fields to display for the messages.... Poster's name, yes; Poster's Email, no; I seem to have come under a barrage of spam in the last 14 days, why give spammers another way to get to us!. Posting Date, yes; True Subject, see above... Other fields.... Can't think of any off the top of my head. Hope this helps Regards Stephen ______________________________________________________________________ This list and all House of Fusion resources hosted by CFHosting.com.
