Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't JBoss an optimized version of Tomcat, so
wouldn't it be basically a faster version of the Sun J2EE reference
implementation?  I am really wondering myself, because that's what I thought
it was, and I was considering downloading it and paying for the
documentation and support, however if it's not a full on J2EE server, than I
don't need to mess with it.
