Derby can't handle pagination, or sub select queries as I posted. That is a limitation to derby, and was on topic to the original post. Your QoQ is a solution, granted but not one I would be recommending to get around a limitation of a database. I am not going to debate my origianl statement anymore, the Java guys here will not touch it due its limitations and I will not recommended it for certain projects either.
