Yep think we've had this discussion before. Not that I think you should use aliases all the time, but when you joining a dozen or so tables I think it can help clarify things. Perhaps it's more use when the original tables name don't have much meaning?
And and a small CF side issue; If you use aliases or not, it's best to be consistent with your SQL otherwise CF caching may not take effect as you intend. ie if you have two queries that do the same thing but are written in a different way CF won't cache them.
