forget about a html editor... I want a javascript editor!

That can inspect a form and from drop doens you can select numeric only, alpha 
only, these characters only... not that would be good.

I don't know much about encryption (but I'm sure I'll learn shortly
from this post), but how did you get the files?  Could the special
characters be a result of the code getting mangled by someone looking
at the code in something like Word and then saving it out?  Maybe have
a look at it with Word and see what it does with it?
