Thanks for the update. The newer version looks cleaner, so I can accept it as a 
compromise. It's a bit unfortunate that the proposal got accepted, given that 
this precise issue was raised as a reason not to do it, since it would also, 
IIUC, block the existence of an equivalent std::twine or whatever. Anyway, this 
isn't the place to discuss that sort of thing.

I think you need to reach out to a few people who have more experience with 
C++26 and/or who own other parts of the codebase. Take a look at GitHub history 
for people who have made similar fixes or even reach out to people implementing 
C++26 and onwards in clang.
