In the Product Design category of the blog, amongst June 2008 summary
points,

and in February 2008:

> Tasks are nouns, they are a Kind of item, like Notes, Messages and
> Events. By contrast, the Star is simply an adjective, a way to
> describe Note, Message and Event items

Hmm.

Might the 'proposal for extending the range of Item Kinds' envisage
that in _addition_ to

1) note kind

— that can be starred
— that can be added to the calendar (as an event)
— that can be sent to others (via e-mail)

we will have:

2) task kind

— that can be starred
— that can be added to the calendar (as an event)
— that can be sent to others (via e-mail)
— that can be changed to a note, and reverted to a task, etc.,
repeatedly

and:

3) 4) etc.: other kinds

— that can be starred
— that can be added to the calendar
— that can be sent to others
— that can be converted to a note, and repeatedly converted/reverted,
etc.
— that can be converted to a task, and repeatedly converted/reverted,
etc.?

If so: then my gut reaction to increasing the range of kinds at this
point in time is:

* highly elevated risk of interoperability issues.

= Suggestions =

a) do revive the proposal, to respect user requirements;

b) defer implementation until after a CalConnect interoperability/
roundtable event.

= Appreciation and priorities =

At <http://www.diigo.com/annotated/83ed6c0b930c4a1bc5072ed4edfde9c7> I
note that

 > Being a CalDAV reference implementation is not a priority

but I believe that interoperability _should_ be a priority; Chandler
must not be an island :)
