I can't reproduce the issue. Nearest I can find on record is <https://bugzilla.osafoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=12656>, which occurs when dragging an event in a particular way, but that resulted in extension (not recurrence) of the event. Still, the symptom is familiar.
