My gut feeling is that the city's reply was purely a cop out. First of all, I don't think it would be terribly difficult to come up with the 25,000 they were whining about. Secondly, I don't think Gov. Perdue would appreciate his 4 million dollar offer being considered as a waste of taxpayers money spent on technology "on it's way out." Sam and I both attended the Georgia Technical Authority(GTA) meeting here in Columbus and there was NO representation by the City of Columbus City. There was however one other individual attending who works with Lower Chattahoochee Regional Development Center(LCRDC). LCRDC works primarily with poor underdeveloped communities outside of Columbus. Many other communities were represented at the GTA meeting including Savannah, Albany. I strongly believe that Columbus won't offer any additional services until it is somehow forced to do so. Obviously, right now, they aren't feeling any pressure.
