Sometimes. Not always.

I mean, yeah, we've got inert people at all levels of society. And
this gets to be difficult to reason about, for a variety of reasons.

But also it's easier to notice the faults of people who we are close
to, except when the fault is our own - then we tend to be so close
that it's hard to recognize what we are seeing.
