Agree, if you want to do the integration it should be another forum. - From my experience as community manager, there is just a few people who post in forums and mailing lists at the same time. Normally developers prefer mailing lists and users forums. There are some people who would like to do both. Forums is less commitment. Some users just want to ask a question they register in the forums ask the question and move on. Others may post more than 100 post a month every month and would became forum addicts. Mailing lists is more commitment. I mean all the issues would get to your email and even thinks like the log issue would be received in my mail. If it was a forum I would just not follow the thread. I now if you want you don't have to read the mail, but is still in your inbox. So I think there is no need to integrate both. But having the archive in a separete forum (maybe read only) I think is a good idea to people from the forums to get intrest in this mailing list.
