Looks like you are doing the right thing. Do not worry much though, there's a 
second option for you to connect to cherokee-admin.  If you launch it with the 
'-b' parameter, it will bind all your network interfaces, so you can connect 
directly with the public IP of your server.

Did you configure it by hand? Did you use the wizard to set it up?
