Well, Develotment slowed down, sure it is. But, there were some 'big' bugfixes in main cherokee branch (also please notice github repo https://github.com/cherokee/webserver/commits/master not old SVN one) and there IS activity as you can see. I would avoid sites that are checking 'some' websites for usage etc.
If you are having that problems, really consider update to latest master branch (much better than current stable one).
