To address your questions on: 1) Weather stripping The rubber on the quarter glass is indeed a nasty little devil to deal with. Fill a small squirt bottle with a mixture of dish washing detergent and water. Don't be afraid to use a lot of soap. Roll the window down enough to expose the top of the channel and squirt to soapy water into it. It will most likely take some time to wick its way through the length of the channel, so you will have to re-apply the mixture often. Once the soap mixture has saturated the channel, try to slide the old seal down the channel. Above all be patient. These seals are not glued from the factory, but are pretty tight to begin with and the metal reinforcement inside may have rusted making them even tighter. If the soap mixture does not work, silicone spray might help. To install the new seals, first make sure that the channel is clean and rust free. Then lube the channel and the seal with straight dish soap and slide the seal up from the bottom. Use as much mixture as necessary to keep the joint wet and slippery. Don't worry if it seems too slippery. When the area dries the rubber will have adequate friction to stray in place against the metal channel. Don't use silicone spray to install the new seals because it stays slick for a very long time. Have plenty of towels on hand. This process is a little messy! 2) Tires I have run Goodrich T/A tires on several vehicles and have never been disappointed. I got good wear and excellent handling every time. Hope this helps, Bob -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]On Behalf Of Jeff Fischer Sent: Thursday, January 10, 2002 10:36 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: [Chevelle-List] Getting ready to order interior kit Replies to this message are sent to The Chevelle Mailing List ------------------------------------------------------------ I am about ready to order the entire interior kit for my Chevelle along with all the weather stripping. Anyone have any tips they can pass along on these repairs? The weather stripping that is along the chrome strip that divides the front window from the rear window looks a little intimidating. Also went looking at tires and wheels today and the local tire shop recommends a 60's series on the rear and a 70's on the front and showed me two tires, a Kelly Charger and Goodrich TA radial tire. What tires have you used that have measured up to your expectations for how they look and perform?
