I didn't ask Jenkins about the cu in of the Pro Stock motor but that is a
good question. He told me he used the CanAm block in his 1968 Camaro Pro
Stock car that he won the first ever Pro Stock race with at Pomona 1970. He
said the ZL1 block was "junk" (his word). After a few 8000rpm runs the HP
would drop off due to compression sealing problems. He thought it was because
the cylinders would "move" in the block. The ZL1 block worked OK in Corvette
SCCA Road racing (1970s) where they redlined about 6500rpm. Jenkins said even
with the Can Am block he would notice a HP drop so he hooked up a water
heater and electric pump that kept the block at 180 deg. all weekend.
