I have a set of Comp Cams roller rockers on the 454 in my 70.  It does have a power booster.  I have to use the short valve covers b/c the tall ones WILL NOT fit, it will come in contact with the power booster.  The short ones do not have that much clearance either.  The only way to use a tall valve cover is to install a mini booster which cost about $250.  I had to wrestle with the left cover to get it passed the booster.  I may have a pic of it somewhere I can email you if you like.  As for the water pump, side by side is the easiest way to see the difference, however the short pump pulley is deeper than the long pump pulley.  Hope this helps
