I attempted to repaint the metal part of the dash on my 69, what a pain in the rear that was. Neither the primer nor the paint would stick. I must have cleaned it with multiple metal preps, paint thinner and anything else I could think of. I even sanded it down to bare metal. Just be prepared for it to be difficult. OPG sells exact matching colors ina spray can for this application.
