A 9" is a F**d rear end that is very popular in hi hp applications due to their durability, easy to work on, lots of aftermarket parts and upgrades, and an almost infinite choice of gear ratios and differentials.

Plus, since they have a drop out center section or 3rd member, you can easily change gear ratios (less than a couple hours of work) if you have another 3rd member with a different ratio ready to go.

A 10 bolt is a Chevy/GM rear end that was/is used in lower performance applications, such as my El Camino which originally had a six cylinder engine.  Most hi hp Chevy and GM cars came equipped with a 12 bolt.  The 10 and 12 bolt rears don't have a removable center section which means to change gears requires a lot of work lying under your car, not fun, especially if you go through the trouble of changing gears and they end up making noise...

Hi All,

Today was a great day.  My Currie rear end arrived!  That thing looks so cool!  It looks huge compared to the 10 bolt, and the Explorer disc brakes look pretty snazzy too!  I can't wait to bolt that baby up and make some smoke!

BTW, I will have a complete 10 bolt in good condition free to anyone that wants it, you just have to come and get it...
