It's interesting to see I'm not the only person thinking outside the Chevy box.  Even though I'm a die-hard Chevy fan, my wife gets the A plan price on new Fords and it's hard to pass up that huge discount.  I must admit, Chevy is having a harder time convincing me to buy a new or even a newer used Chevy product these days.

After I sold my 78 Blazer, I bought a used Ranger from a Ford dealer.  The Ranger came with a 6 year/75,000 mile powertrain warranty.  After I decided I needed/wanted a full-size 4x4, I went to the local Chevy dealer to see what they had.  Unfortunately, the used trucks they were selling should have been new considering the frickin' prices.  And to top it off, if the trucks were too old for a factory warranty to be in effect, they had a measly 2 month warranty!  That's pretty sad.  Needless to say when I found the 87 Jimmy, I snatched it up for only $2500.

As much as I love my old Chevys, I doubt I'll ever buy a new one (I have to see the C6 before I can be sure). :)

Man, even I, a die-hard GM fan, am compelled to consider a Dodge truck.  They outperform the GM trucks with price, performance, a far better warranty, and possibly even quality.  I've had very few problems with my GM trucks (89, 94, 97, 2000), but I'm still considering a Dodge.

WAKE UP GM!

Well,I guess you need to get out more often,Mikey.<g> Dodge dealers are taking deliveries of 1/2 ton Hemi trucks,as I'm typing this. My local dealer had twelve of them in stock, yesterday. As for the price,I've got a order form filled out on my desk for a 1/2 ton four door Dodge with Hemi engine,Lone Star package with polished 20" wheels, top of the line Infinity sound system, etc, definitely no stripper. Price will be $24,700. I've always been a GM man but they do not currently build a true four door 1/2 ton truck with full 6' bed. Neither does Ford. On top of that, both GM and Ford are priced substantially higher.Clint Hooper

I believe last I heard the Hemi is only available in 3/4 ton and up trucks. No 1/2 tons. Also I really question you finding a hemi truck at under 25G's. Even a stripped out 2wd, no option anything... probably would need to specially ordered if ya did... But I could be wrong as I no real drive to buy anything with a Dodge logo on it and haven't looked at them much. But yes cool none the less though. Mikey

I have been waiting to drive one of the 1/2 ton four door Dodge trucks with Hemi power and the Lone Star package(20"wheels). Having driven just about every new truck out there with just about every engine/trans combo,I can tell you the Hemi Dodge will smoke a Chevy truck with the 6.0 engine. One truck I drove was a 3/4 ton longbed with Hemi power & auto and it was pretty impressive for something so heavy. One of the new 1/2 tons with that engine should be a fun ride, especially for less than $25K.Clint Hooper
