The cars inner convertible top inner sheet metal
is the same as is the top it self, manual or power are identical except for the
extra parts a power top requires. IMO be for you start get your self
the 64/65 Fisher body manual . There is a extensive section on soft top
adjustment/fit with info on power and manual tops.
One other suggestion if you top fits and is still
on the car.B-4 you remove it. scribe the mounting locations or spray paint the
area to get the top frame back to it's original position. It'll save lots
of time when you re-install it.

I think it would be an easy bolt in. The
proper holes should be there for the hydraulic cylinders, and I would think
the top would be the same. They didn't make 2 different bodies. One for manual
and one for auto tops. Unless your going to go with new parts I think the hard
part would be finding a good donor car.

I think he is talking about a manual convertible top vs. a
power convertible top, not a coupe vs. a convertible.
I have the same
question and wonder what is involved in adding a power unit to my 64 manual
convertible top. Anyone know?

The
roof is a structural part of the car. Convertibles have fully boxed frames
to make up for the rigidity that is lost when the roof is not there. If you
cut the roof off a hardtop, the frame will probably
sag.

Do any of you know if a manual top can be set up to a power top
without any alterations?,this would be on a 65' chevelle. I know
you'd need to get all the hydraulics, pump & switches etc. but can
it be bolted right up if you had all the materials? I was just
wondering before I check out any more, there seems to be alot of them
out there without power tops. Any pros or cons on power over
manual?
Thanks
