I know for a fact the L79 was available in 1967. A friend of mine bought a new 67 with that engine and it was really a street sleeper.

A fellow TC'er, Rich Cummings, has a nice 65 L79 - http://www.chevellestuff.com/65velle/gallery/rpol79.jpg and there was a nice 67 L79 that I caught at the Midwest Chevelle Regional in Tulsa last year - http://www.midwestchevelles.com/shows/mw2002/mwr66_67.htm.  Can't say as I've ever seen a 66 model of one yet.

Thanks for the info,Larry. I grew up in those times but don't ever remember anyone having a 65 or 66 Chevelle w/L79.
