That appears to be working fine. The carb is getting gas and the peep whole
float bowls have the level where they are susposed to be.

I'm thinking I might run down to a junk yard and pick up another hei unit
and see what happens..

Ron, Check your fuel flow from the tank. Any restriction?  The timing light
should flash on any wire.
