I got the impression from talking to Don that they
weren't 100% sure until they inspected my trans. Dodge hasn't had any problems
with the Viper shifters. So, D&D thinks my longer shifter handle
might be the problem, since the stock Viper shifter has no internal stops. All of
the aftermarket shifter assemblies, including D&D's,feature positive stops. I
can tell you I wasn't impressed with the stock unit and was waiting for Hurst to
finish their new Viper shifter. My long handle magnifies any slop in the stock
shifter mechanism and makes the throws seem quite long. I've driven a few Vipers
and their short shifter handles make for very positive throws. Why not run a
shorter handle on my car? Well,to do so would probably require notching my bench
seat. Looks like I will have to do that now.
