How come all of a sudden everything I get from the ChevelleList has an
attachment? This just started yesterday... 100% of the postings. Nothing has
been re-configured by me on my pc.
With all of the virus stuff happening, I am leery of opening any of these.
My Norton Anti Virus is up to date with all definition files, and has not
flagged anything. But I have not tried opening any of the postings, much less
any of the attachments.
I am afraid I am missing out on some good discussion! Thanks for any
insights.

(richmound 6 speed or tremec 5 speed)
Hi
Dan,
When
you get to the point of choosing your transmission, regardless of which one
you decide to get, you really need to think hard what trans gear ratios you
want in conjunction with the rear end ratio. I have a 3.70 rear gear,
which I thought would be a good choice for the .62 sixth, which it is.
The only thing that sucks is when in fifth gear (1:1), it turns out
that the 3.70 is a bit low. Hind sight is always 20/20, but after
putting close to 8000 miles on my Elky, I think a 3.55 rear with a
.72 sixth would have been a better combo, especially when driving in
fifth.
I
think the least expensive way to compensate in my case will be to get
taller rear tires when the time comes.

I accidentally erased your e-mail but to answer your
question, I leaning toward the Tremec 5 speed today. I change my mind almost
daily. One things for sure, I think I will try to concentrate on my body
work (down to bare metal now & disassembled) until its done.
If I was to go with a Richmond 6 speed I would hate to miss out on the price
of I think 2600. But I also don't want to have too many more irons in the
fire.
I still don't understand how the engine would affect the
trany. Seems to me 1 or 2 more gears would be a good thing, just gear the
rear end to fit. Just my thoughts. Dan PS I seen your pic that was
posted on the trans tech. Looks like a nice ride!
