Well Mikey, that’s just $4000 (2complete centersections + case and axles worst case) nothing to talk about JJ

Well the plan is to install a dana44 c4 corvette rear end, I already have it in the basement so now its “just to do it”

I got two complete front suspensions and one dana44 rear for euro 1200 (around $ 1200), and its all in one package, IRS, disc brakes sway bar etc etc.

My initial plan for the car was the 12bolt with better trailing arms, a sway nice sway bar etc and tall spindles with tubular arms in front and a quick ratio box, but that’s way more expensive and common that a nice aluminum IFS and IRS setup, sure its loads and loads of more work to install and for sure a lot more money to be spent before finishing but I’ve decided to do it.

My only problem is that I’m very good at buying parts (being a buyer as profession), but I normally forget to sell what I don’t need so I tend to overstock a little JJJ

Maybe I should just keep the 12bolt and get rid of something else J

Well my number one turn off on it is the power loss due to the gear cut. Second is cost. You figure that the drop in case and axle package is about 800 dollars over here. Then keep in mind that a stock Ford 9 center section will not last long. The pinion support are very weak unless you find a very rare daytona support. The nodular cases are also very rare to find now... so that basically leaves you with an aftermarket center section to handle the power I plan to put down. That is gonna run between 1200 and 1600. Now who really wants to buy 2 of those so they can switch gears easily? LOL I pretty much have no choice really so I will just have to take the after market 9 and make more power to overcome the loss :)

IMO the 12b is a fine axle... better in stock form then a stock 9" in most applications. Just out of curiousity... why you getting rid of your 12b?

Mikey,

I remember seeing posts about guys very happy with their 9” axles, its easier to change the gear ratio etc. I personally don’t do that very often, and I don’t think I would be doing it more often with a 9” axle, but its for sure nicer to work on a 9” than a heavy 12 bolt.

I think it was at moser you could get a drop in 12bolt with 9” axle bearings, that would eliminate the c-clip eliminators.

Sounds fair enough.... it is getting hard to find 12b's around here as well. If I could find one for cheap I would be all over it, but since they seem to be going for $500 plus for junk open diffs I will just get a drop in 9" rather then deal with the hassle of c-clip eliminators.

Hi everyone,

I have taken out my gearbox and put it up for sale her in europe, next
thing out (in about a month or so) is the 1968model 12bolt.

Anyone have an idea of how much a 3,73 completely rebuilt last summer is
worth ? it have a gm posi and a Richmond gear setup, gm axles and fresh
rear brakes (drums)it goes.

Personally I was shooting at around $1000/1200 because they are hard to
find and worth more here in Europe than in the USA, but I really don’t
know.

Thanks !
