Once a FI unit is properly calibrated, it's pretty much a forgotten maintenance item.  Quick starting, no worries about a choke, running too rich or lean for various conditions, etc.  Granted, FI is probably more expensive initially, but its driveability is sure nice.  Performance (and/or cubic inches) isn't so much a factor.  The more, dare I say complex, the more you have to stay on top of it.  Dunno, engine concern is one of the last items on the agenda although it does require planning for, for sure.
