The easiest swap would be a stock type kit for your chevelle. You would need to
reomove the wheel spindles, but with the right tools its not tooo bad a job. Make
sure that the "kit" includes all you will need, master cylinder- booster??, lines,
proportioning valve , etc.

Another easy swap that would cost more is to get an aftermarket kit that bolts on
to your stock spindles. I believe that Baer (& probably others) makes such a kit.
With these its just an R&R operation. Check with Clint44 (member here). He is a
Baer dealer and can probably get you a good price for a kit.

Hello all,
I recently aquired a one / two owner 64 chevelle malibu ss. Unfortunately
it still has the drum brakes on the front. I have been searching the web
for reasonable cost drum -> disc conversions and have found a couple of
sites that describe the "tall" spindle swap. Some say there are significant
problems, some say it is not a big deal, some say that you can find a 12 "
swap instaed of the 11 " swap while retaining the stock 5 on 4 3/4 inch bolt
circle. Some say just go with an all new kit, some say that just find used
parts in a junk yard. I want the swap to be easy, relatively inexpensive
and work with the stock drum brakes in the back. I have a fair amount of
mechanical ability and live in Northern California. All suggestions and
advice are appreciated. Thanks.
John(;-)
