I wouldnt go for a 700 behind a blown BB.
If you want an overdrive go for a 4l80, if well built they can hadle 
1000/1200hp.
I do not agree 100% with Clint on the overdrive thing, in my opinion the more 
gear
splits you have(to a limit), the less fuel you will consume.
