Clint...I'm the one with 454 and blower...and I'm to the point of agreeing.
My mechanic and close friend says stay with the Heavy duty 400 I have under
it...I was just wondering if there were any major savings on gas economy,
but from what you say...very little.

I'm old enough to know what I was getting into when I bought and improved
the BBC....It's strictly my EGO!(GRIN) I get so many thumbs up or people
coming out of the store to see it. First you can hear it, and then they see
it...like a flame to moths!!(LOL) I LIKE IT!!!(ROTFLMAO)

I can see your point,Andre, but an 8-71 blown BBC isn't going to get great
fuel economy no matter what you do to it. If the car were mine, and it
isn't,I would forgo the OD idea altogether and go with a built TH400 and low
3series gearing.

If you want an overdrive go for a 4l80, if well built they can hadle
1000/1200hp.
I do not agree 100% with Clint on the overdrive thing, in my opinion the
more gear
splits you have(to a limit), the less fuel you will consume.
