Why not try to buff the car with a medium cut
cleaner first, and see what happen?

Hi, Factory clear can be wet sanded with 400 - 600
grit and recleared. But be sure to use an adhesion promotor prior to
spraying the clear. It is a solvent you spay on with your gun, it will
help soften the factory baked clear and let the new clear grab
hold.
