Eddie- Here's my 2 cents. I have read the other posts so far and
everything stated has been true. I did the BB conversion on my car a few
years ago. I have wanted those big valve covers in my engine compartment
for as long as I can remember. Truthfully, you can make plenty of
horsepower from a smallblock. The main difference will be torque. If I
were just looking to go fast I should have stayed with a small block. I
don't regret what I've done, but I was after the old-school look. With
today's heads and big inch short blocks, you can go a long way and keep all
your external parts.

Subject: [Chevelle-list] How's this engine?

Hey guys, I have a 70' chevelle with just a 350 engine and I was "thinking"
of putting a bigger engine with more HP than my 350. I found an auction for
a 396 engine on eBay, which is still up for bids. From what it is described
here in the website, Is it a "worth" engine to bid on to buy or should I
look for something else?? I'm more of a rookie with engines. One of my
friends said I should just stay with my 350, but just "bore it over"--I
don't remember how much bore over he recommended. Is this a better way to
go or just buy the right bigger engine?
